Anneliese Dodds canvasses in Prudhoe

Anneliese Dodds, the Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities and Chairperson of the Labour Party, visited Prudhoe this week.

Speaking to Labour Party members she emphasised the Tories’ disastrous 13 years in power, their broken promises, failed policies and economic mismanagement as interest rates soared again for the fourteenth time in a row.

The polls point towards a Labour win in Hexham, but to secure that victory we need to work hard and listen to voters.

Labour has 5 missions to Build and Better Britain:

  1. Secure the highest sustained growth in the G7
  2. Build an NHS fit for the future
  3. Make Britain’s streets safe
  4. Break down the barriers to opportunity at every stage
  5. Make Britain a clean energy superpower

Speaking to voters

Anneliese then joined the twenty members of the Hexham CLP, including many members from the Prudhoe & District and Bywell Branches and local Prudhoe Town Councillors to canvass residents.

There were many voters expressing dissatisfaction with the Tories locally and nationally. The cost of living, interest rate rises and the environment were important doorstep issues along with concerns about the state of local roads, cuts to policing and antisocial behaviour (recent stats show 9/10 crimes go unpunished).

Several voters said that they were lifelong Conservatives but were going to vote Labour at the next election. They’re fed up with the inaction of the government, Guy Opperman and local Conservative politicians.
