We now have two Labour Councillors in Hexham Constituency, with gains from the Conservatives in Bywell and Prudhoe North Wards.
Angie Scott beat Prudhoe Mayor Tracy Gilmore to the Prudhoe North Seat by 67 votes.
Angie has worked hard in the community for years as a Town Councillor and is involved in multiple projects in the town.
As a lifelong resident of Prudhoe, she is committed to the town and took to social media to thank voters for the opportunity to represent them, assuring them she wouldn’t let them down.
This seat hasn’t been won by Labour for over a decade.
Bywell was won by a majority of 57 votes by Holly Waddell, overturning a previous Tory majority of over 200 votes.
Holly credits her win to the work of activist in the local branch who worked tirelessly for months knocking on doors, calling voters and using social media to engage with people.
Both Angie and Holly beat local and National trends and were two of only three gains for Labour in the county.
