Why I am standing for Corbridge …

I am so proud to stand for Corbridge in the forthcoming County Council Elections. It will be a privilege to give something back to this town and surrounding parish, where I was raised, learnt to read, write, play, fish, swim and worship.

As my younger self, it was an honour to represent the town in many sporting pursuits, which taught me about belonging to the community, the rights and responsibilities that brings, and to understand right from wrong. It is right to expect to find an affordable home to buy or rent in Corbridge, that’s it is very wrong to offer 1% pay increase to residents who are nurses and equally wrong to privatise our NHS and GP practices. It is right to expect to see police on our streets to keep us safe. It is right some local  businesses have had support during COVID 19, but it’s wrong there are such  hidden inequalities in Corbridge, which this pandemic has exposed.

I will work hard with and for residents, young and old alike, to achieve a safe recovery from this terrible Covid-19 pandemic and to get jobs, schools, businesses and life back on track for all, especially for those most vulnerable.
