Would you like to come to a training day that showcases some real-life community wealth building projects happening in the North East?
Join the North of Tyne Mayor, Jamie Driscoll and guest speakers who have CWB specialist areas of expertise.
Building on the success of our People, Pits and Politics Festival held in Durham in 2018, we are now planning a series of more focussed local events. The vision is the same: we’re bringing together the very best in our community organisers, political trainers and alternative media to empower ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
Our next event features discussion a chance to get involved in one of the North of Tyne Mayor’s key policy pledges: Community Wealth Building.
The most effective way to tackle the damage done by our economic system is to take wealth back into the hand of local communities.
We’ve got great speakers lined up, followed by workshops where you can learn about the projects, and even get involved in real community organisations, everything from the People’s Bank to food co-operatives tackling holiday hunger.
There are real projects you can get involved in:
- The People’s Bank
- A worker owned supply agency that’s tackling the gig economy
- Food cooperatives fighting hunger through empowerment & community cohesion
- Community Cooperatives installing their own broadband infrastructure
The event is 10:30am to 4pm on Saturday 14th December, at the Trinity Centre on Gosforth High St, NE3 4AG
Tickets are from £10 and include lunch.
