Sandhoe resident Marcie, a member of Hexham Constituency Labour Party youth network, is concerned about public transport where she lives. Sandhoe and Stagshaw – villages between Hexham and Corbridge, to the north of the A69 – are not currently on a bus route. This causes major mobility problems for young and old alike. Income as well as age is an important factor in car ownership and use.
Marcie is starting a campaign to get public transport in the area. She said ‘to make the biggest impact possible I’m trying to gather some data to see how many people would benefit from having a bus in the local area.’
Hexham Labour have leafleted the area, spoken to villagers and canvassed opinion. Watch this space for developments.
